Council tax is rising again this year, but do you really know how the hundreds of pounds a month that you pay is spent?

Cllr Mike Sole, Liberal Democrat candidate for Canterbury South in the KCC elections explains:

“If you have a parish council, about 1% helps fund it. The fire and rescue service get 4% and the police 11%.

Canterbury City Council keep a similar amount for themselves, but everything that is left, nearly 3/4 goes to Kent County Council.

With KCC increasing their share by 5% this year, I want to ensure that the fair share goes to Canterbury South, prioritising speed restrictions, cycle routes, flood defences and social care.
